Meet Our Board
David Sutton, President
Dr. Sutton has been free from alcohol and drug addictions for 42 years. He served in ministry for 37 years, holds a PhD in Psychology and a Doctorate in Divinity. He has functioned as both a pastor and a teacher, and is Ordained as a Bishop. Has taught and mentored those preparing for ministry throughout his career and trained addictions counselors for many years.
He and his wife Lori have traveled to many countries as teaching missionaries and are actively involved in ministry travel, both domestic and international.
Dr. Sutton has written several books, including a series on breaking the cycle of addiction. "The Principle Approach, Keys to Recovery”, the “Principle Approach Workbook“ and “The Principle Approach, Forty Years Later”. Other books include, The Optional Element" Developing a Successful Prayer Life, formulated from his personal prayer life. David spends many hours everyday in prayer and has taught others how to expand their effectiveness of their prayer and the prayer life of their church.
You will often hear him say,
"I don't have a ministry that I pray for, I have a prayer life and out of the overflow is my ministry."

Lori Sutton VP
Board Member
Lori Sutton is an Ordained Minister and has been effectively ministering to those in need by providing addictions counseling, inner-healing and grief counseling for many years.
She is active in her community serving as a board member with multiple highly impactive organizations. Resurrection House, an organization dedicated to providing day services to the Homeless; Take Stock in Children, touching the lives of underprivileged youth, by awarding college scholarships; and The Amazing Loving Healing Ministry, that provides inner-healing workshops and counseling to those trapped from trauma and abuse.
A professional in the banking industry, she has used her God-given talents and blessings to make a difference in our city and around the world.
Charlie Miller Director
Board Member
Charlie Miller is a native of Sarasota, Florida. He has been married for 39 years, has three children and four grandchildren. Former owner of Miller Window and Glass he ran this company for 25 years. Currently a Regional Manager at Stewart Sign Company for 25 years.
Charlie served as Youth Pastor and a Worship Leader at Victory Family Worship Center. Charlie played drums in various worship teams for over 3 decades.
He has worked with drug addicts and alcoholics for 35 years. Ministry experience includes working at Tomoka State Prison, serving with Jordon Prison Ministry and was instrumental in starting the Overcomers recovery program in Sarasota.
Bill Spect Treasurer

I grew up in a traditional middle class family in Salem, Oregon. I was a shy child that didn’t make friends easily and suffered with a social anxiety disorder. When I discovered that alcohol helped me to cope with the social anxiety disorder. I began to self-medicate and quickly became an alcoholic. At the age of 49 I was diagnosed with liver disease from alcohol abuse and was given less than 18 months. I had to choose sobriety or die from my addiction. I choose sobriety and on March 13, 1995,
I had a liver transplant that saved my life.
I reestablish my relationship with Jesus that I walked away from in my youth. As my faith grew I began to see clearly that my mission in life was now to serve God by using my experiences and talents to give hope to fellow alcoholics and addicts like me. I changed my career paths from government to that of a drug and alcohol counselor. In 2006 I started a Celebrate Recovery program in my church. I answered a missionary call to the country of Latvia, to help those in recovery from addiction. Latvia is located on the border with Russia, was part of the Soviet Union until gaining their freedom in 1991 and has a tremendous alcohol and drug problem. In 2009 we started the first Celebrate Recovery group in Latvia, translating the material into Latvian. I have made 5 mission trips to Latvia since this beginning.
The efforts in Latvia have expanded beyond Celebrate Recovery to include reaching out to rehabs, training leaders and into the AA community. The translation of Dr. Sutton’s books “The Principle Approach” to the Latvian language for use in the Alcohol and Drug treatment centers has expanded this effort. Together we will return to Latvia in May of 2020 to serve the people of Latvia and beyond.
Gloria Caviness Director

Gloria celebrates over 20 years sobriety from an alcohol addiction. She has dedicated the last 12 years of her life volunteering at the Salvation Army Center of Hope, even receiving volunteer of the year twice. While spending time with the women in early sobriety she introduces them to the love of God & encourages them to grow in their faith by teaching them how to pray.
In addition to her volunteer work she has been a nurse helping others in the medical field for over 40 years. To know Gloria is to love her, her smile lights up a room and her generosity to pour into the lives of all she encounters is beautiful.
